Rapid Prototyping Uses
The uses of Rapid Prototyping are extensive in terms of the industries and products that can utilize this efficient process. Any industry that uses CAD software applications to design parts can use this process. Some industries well known for using Rapid Prototyping are automotive, aerospace, consumer products, medical, and the military.
Some of the uses include verifying that the model satisfies the original concepts for the part (Concept Verification), using the model as a basis for the form and fit of the final part (Form and Fit Models), using the model to verify that the final part will function as desired (Functional Models), and building tooling to be used to produce the parts (Rapid Tooling).
