An Overview

Inserts are used with enclosures for mechanical parts in order to stabilize the part within the enclosure. Metal inserts are typically used with rapid prototypes when threaded fasteners are needed. These inserts are assembled into the rapid prototype part so that mechanical parts can be affixed to the prototype.

Secondary operations refers to services related to producing a mechanical part that are not directly involved in designing or fabricating the part. Secondary operations can include threaded insert fitting, mechanical and electrical assembly, silk screen painting, pad printing, and spray painting.
